Toilet Paper Roll Mouse (and Mouse King Craft)
We are HUGE fans of toilet paper roll crafts for kids. Toilet paper rolls are plentiful and my, so very versatile.. when you know what to make with them!!! Woohoo.
We have a whole set of TP Roll Animals (a whole TP ABC in fact).. but we haven’t YET got a Toilet Paper Roll Mouse on the blog. This little mouse, can be dress up as the Mouse King from The Nutcracker or can be a nice substitute craft for the Year of the Rat 2020! How we love a cute and easy Mouse craft!
TP Roll Mouse Craft – Materials
- 2 toilet paper rolls
- stapler
- scissors
- pens or paint or a little paper
- pens for facial features
- (glue stick optional)
How to make a Toilet Paper Roll Mouse or Mouse King!
As mentioned, we actually made this cute little TP Roll mouse as a TP Roll Mouse KING for our little Nutcracker Ballet TP Roll set! But we love the mouse so much, that I wanted to make sure you got to see it separately too. After all you can make this little paper mouse craft all year long. Especially for Year of Rat celebrations too!
What I also LOVE about this TP Roll Mouse, is that it is VERY low mess. You can just use pens, toilet paper rolls, scissors and a stapler. No glue, no paint – but that is your choice – as options for the details are available.
Make some Mice Ears
First – squish one of the toilet pape rolls flat and cut out two mouse ears – fairly large circles.
You can now decorate the ears either with paper, paint or pens (we made one version with paper one with paint.
Shape the Mouses’s Head
Once dry, take the second toilet paper roll and squeeze in the top.
Then flatten it. This should give you a vague triangular shape towards the top.
Secure the Mouse’s Ears
You can now insert one ear into each side.
Secure with a stapler. If you don’t like the finished look with the staple, you can glue it in place – and secure the ears with a clothes peg whilst it dries (a bit like we did with the ears on this TP Roll Koala).
Now just take a pen and add your TP Roll Mouse’s facial features!! DONE.
If you are using this craft as part of the Nutcracker Ballet TP Roll Set.. you can now glue on a little yellow paper grown and draw on some gold buttons (in fact, you could paint or wrap the mouse’s body in green/ blue or red to make a little Mouse King coat! But I was a bit too lazy for that.. hehehehe. Well maybe not lazy, I do like to present you with SIMPLE crafts.. and I want to keep this simple!).
Hop over to the Toilet Paper Roll Nutcracker to see the full trio:
- The Nutcracker (LOVE him!)
- The Mouse King (again)
- And the Sugar Plum Fairy/ TP Roll Ballerina
