As you know we are rather partial to a paper puppet! Especially when it is as quirky and fun as this Paper Horse Puppet Printable – the perfect movable paper doll to make! Have yourself a little paper puppet race with these fabulous Horse Puppets.

The kids willl ove these super simple Paper Clothespin Horse Craft for Preschoolers! They make a great little Derby Craft to make with your preschooler and lovely little decoration or paper toy!

Make some super cute and easy Horse Headbands! You could write the names or numbers of your favourite Kentucky Derby horses on the side of the hat! Or you could make your little horse head band and then have a race in the garden.

Similarly you can make some and easy Paper Hobby Horse Craft! We made these as a unicorn themed party craft many moons ago, but these would be great for a Kentucky Derby Garden Party too. I can just see your kids and preschoolers running aroundi n the garden with their horses.

As you know, we LOVE making greeting cards. Here is anothe great two for one horse themed card idea. Learn how to cut out your simple horse shapes and then turned it either into a “regular” horse card for a birthday or a derby party invite! Easy! We love that the horses faces isn’t secure down, to give it a simple 3d effect!

We also have a super cute little Paper Plate Horse craft that preschoolers will love to have a go at. Btw.. I think I was having a bit of a “moment”, with the horse’s tail – the one we made is a bit like a cow’s tail. You may want to replace it with one nice black “lock”. 🙂 Though I don’t think it really matters!

Make a Hobby Horse from a sock. Again, this is a blast form the past and probably one the earliest crafts here on Red Ted Art from 2010 – wow-wee!
More Kentucky Derby Craft Ideas
Here we have a wonderful Derby Hat Craft, as well as some crafts that can easily be turned into Derby Rosettes!

Make a Derby Hat from Newspapers – we have loved making these Newspaper Hats for years. They are super easy and super fun to make.. and you can decorate them in whatever way you want. I think flowers would be particularly lovely for the Kentucky Derby!

This “Mad Hatter” craft would also make an excellent black top hat craft for any of the bous and girls wanting a top hat instead of floral one. Simply switch out the colours to make it a more Kentucky Derby like hat!

Make a fabric rosette – an easy sewing project! All you need to do is add two ribbons to the back and you have your perfect “winning” rosettes!

Add a couple of strips of newspaper to these newspaper flowers, and they double up fabulously as newspaper rosettes too, don’t you think?
