Paper Angel Ornament DIY – Materials:
- one wooden bead (US/UK – affiliate links) OR paper in desired facial colours
- half a sheet of white construction paper per angel (if making a white angel, but you can also combine patterned sheets of paper and white paper – sheet music would look ADORABLE)
- string or baker’s twine (if using beads, make sure a loop of this fits through the bead’s hole)
- marker pens/ pencils
- a pair of scissors
- glue stick
If using paper for the angel’s face, this makes a great classroom craft too – as nice and thrifty and yet oh so cute! Give the angel’s different facial expressions and maybe even make a whole choir of angels! Note: no angel templates needed!
How to make Paper Angel Ornament:
We have a fabulous video tutorial for you t o check out or follow the step by step photo instructions below!
How to make paper angel craft – step by step instructions
And here is how to make this adorable Christmas decorations with photo steops and written instructions!
Make the angel dress and wings
You can customise these paper angel ornaments to be any size you want. However, we like the following size of paper:
- colored or pattern paper approx. 15 x 15cm
- white paper approx. 10 x 15.cm
Concertina fold your square piece of paper with approximately 0.5mm folds. I added some red strips to the white paper for effect – but you can leave them plain too! Fold the wide paper in concertina shape along the 10cm edge.
Connecting the angel dress and wings
Fold both concertinas in half – as neatly as you can.
Then glue the white paper wings to the body (a glue stick is plenty, you won’t need a hot glue gun for this!).
Add your baker’s twine or ribbon for hanging (and it also secures the shape a little more) and secure with a knot.
Glue the bottom of the angel skirt together.
Make a paper angel face (or thread a bead as angel head)
To make your face, you will need a circle in skin tone colour and a strip of paper. Glue the strip of paper to the top of the head.
Then fold down behind the head on both sides. Trim to a desired length. And add your facial features with pen!
Final paper angel craft ornament assembly
Glue the head to the top of the angel body and add any embellishments such a gems, bows, eco-friendly glitter or sequins. You can, instead of the paper angel face, slip a bead over the baker’s twine as your angel’s head.
