Popsicle stick star ornaments are of course a MUST! There are so many different ways you can make this classic recycled ornament craft and personalise it to you and your family. For starters, you can choose which colours to make your craft stick stars. You can leave them natural looking or paint them in all the colours of the rainbow. Then it is time to decorate.. will you add buttons, pom poms or sequens? Will you yarn wrap your star or leave it play. Oh the possibilities!! Simply dive into your craft box and see what you have to use up…

Craft Stick Nativity Star

And if you want to go the extra mile, why not revisit the nativity scene and turn your craft stick star into a Nativity Star, complete with a very simple Baby Jesus in a manger. Again, there is plenty of room for personalisation. Will you paint your nativity star yellow? Will you yarn wrap your star? Or will you keep it simple and focus on your paper Baby Jesus (made from very basic shapes, so easy for everyone to have a go!).

Button Popsicle Stick Snowflake Ornaments

Craft sticks or popsicle sticks make great snowflakes too. A wonderful recycled popsicle stick ornament to make with kids! We used ice lolly sticks from the summer. I glued the snowflakes shape in place (at the time, we didn’t have a hot glue gun.. so I used PVA glue the day before). The kids painted the basic popsicle stick snowflake white and later we added recycled buttons to them. So lovely.

Finally.. probably the simplest of all popsicle stick Christmas Tree Ornaments… combine a Craft Stick (as the tree trunk) with pipe cleaners (as the branches), add a loop of bakers twine, and you have yourself a basic Christmas Tree ornament! Then all you need, is some colorful pony beads and sorted. TOO CUTE! (and your preschooler will get to really practice their fine motor skills too!).
