We LOVE Toilet Paper Rolls/ Cardboard Tubes! Toilet paper rolls are free, they are plentiful, they biodegrade AND they are oh so versatile! There a ton fun things you can do with Toilet Paper Rolls all year round. Here are our favourite Toilet Paper Roll Valentines Crafts for Kids!
The reason we love using recycled cardboard tubes with kids, is that kids are PROLIFIC. They love to craft a LOT, especially preschoolers… so having eco friendly but also inexpensive craft resources is perfect. As they can simply get crafty and make as much as they want. No worries about using “too much stuff”.
We also love, that they are so very versatile. You can paint them. You can cover them in paper. You can shape them. You can cut them up.. so many things to make and do with paper rolls! And Valentine’s Day crafting is no exception.
Supplies needed for the Toilet Paper Roll Crafts

- embellishmenst and decorations, such as gems, washi tape, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, glitter

Cardboard Tube Valentines Day Crafts
Let’s begin with some cute Toilet Paper Roll Love Bugs and and lovable Critters
Yes.. first up are these oh so cute Toilet Paper Roll Love Bugs!! They are so easy and so fun to make and you can decorate them with whatever you have to hand or in your craft stash – washi tape stripes, gems, stickers and googly eyeys. And don’t forget those cute pipe cleaner arms and antennae at the top of the tube! Love the fine motor skills activity of adding beads to the pipe cleaners.
Keep saving those empty toilet paper rolls, grab a piece of construction paper and then have a go at these Toilet Paper Roll Owls. I love that these Valentines Critters do NOT have any googly eyes and still look adorable. We are slowly moving towards more biodegradable craft materials here are at Red Ted Art HQ and these Valentine’s Owls are thrifty and fun and made with no plastics! Love all the heart shape paper cut outs – even the little beaks are made from hearts! And the fun you can have with markers and big heart shaped eyes! You could always use heart stickers instead of the paper hearts.
If you want to give small gifts or some wrapped candy this Valentines. Try this Valentine’s Craft: Owl Pill Box DIY – if you worry about food and toilet rolls you can either – blitz the loo roll in the mircowave, buy craft rolls from the store (but personally, I find this an unnecessary purchase lining the craft companies pockets) or thirdly, use kitchen paper towel rolls cut in half. We only ever put “wrapped” candy or treats in these kind of boxes anyway! Then decorate with this cute yarn wrapped owl! Switch out the colours to make it into a Valentine Owls craft.
Similarly take your toilet paper tubes and turn them into these cute Kawaii Heart Gift Boxes for Small Treats or small gifts! You can stuff a little tissue paper and a love note inside and make the unboxing even more exciting. As you can see, all you need to do is paint a small heart onto your box and give it cute heart face features. You could even add a little glitter or other embellishments! If you don’t fancy a big paintig job, you can wrap paper around the cardboard tubes to and either glue in place or tuck in at the end of the roll. Either way, a fun way to give small gifts to classmates!
Have a blast making these super cute Love birds – to make things easier, they come with a free template> Then all you need is a lick of paint some scraps of cardstock (though you can use the paper tube cut offs) and your birds will find true love! A guest post tutorial by Kate from The Craft Train!
Kiddos will have a blast with this simple TP Roll Binoculars! WIll you find True Love? Though out binoculars are pretty straight forward, you can add strips of washi tape, glitter and gems to decorate and personalise!
Next in our list of fun ideas for Valentines is this super sweet Leo the Lion – Leo is a lovestruck lion, and is so fun to make!
Next we have a cute preschooler craft, making these oh so easy cardboard and Toilet paper roll Umbrellas – a cute pun of “showering with love”. Love all the little heart shape cut outs, dangling from twine.
How fun are these Hogs & Kisses via Pinterest (I am afraid the original website doesn’t seem to be working anymore? But they are TOO cute not to share!) Clearly they ahve been mading using a paper cutting machine, but I reckon you can easily make your own version without a paper punch or printer. Just paint the tubes, shape the end of the toilet paper roll into the piggy ears and decorate!
Dwelling in Happiness shows us how you can use the cardboard from Cardboard Tubes and turn them into these lovely Toilet Paper Roll Garlands! Love the white pom poms!
