Books included into today’s Dr Seuss Day Crafts:
So in todays Dr Seuss Day activity collection, we look at the following books! They are all fabulous books, that the kids and I have very much enjoyed reading over the years. If there is a new one to you, why not take a quick peak. I have added a super brief summary of what the educational element of each book is:
- Cat in the Hat – a fun read stimulating the imagination, but also for younger children to think about responsibility
- The Lorax – about how greedy and consumerism affects the environment and how we all need to take personal responsibility when it comes to sustainability
- Yertle The Turtle – all about unchecked pride and abusing of power before the fall
- Thing 1 and Thing 2 – about chaotic fun, but also the need for teamwork and helping clean up
- One Fish Two Fish – introducing colors and numbers in a playful rhyming way
- Green Eggs and Ham – all about trying new things and overcoming prejudice. Persistence wins!
- Horton Hears a Who! is a very important book about respecting people.
- Fox in Socks – is a fun book exploring language and rhyming (of course!)
- Put me in a Zoo – a book about finding where you belong, but also a fun way of exploring colors
- Oh the Place You Will go Book – an exciting book about your future – complete with ups and downs, but full of possiblities
- The Grinch – the activities of this are linked separately, as this is often considered a “seasonal” book for Christmas – about the mindless consumerism of Christmas, as well as how a little love and care can go a long way. Let’s be kinder to each other
