Collage of Easter Bonnet Hats with Kids and preschoolers. Made from paper.
Isn’t this a fabulous collection of Easter Hats? Your kids will look fabulous at the Easter parade!

Some great design ideas for kids of all ages. Whether you are looking for Easter Bonnets to make with Preschoolers or Easter Hat Ideas for Boys and Girls in older year groups. Get yourself hat ready for the annual Easter parade on Easter Sunday!!

Here are some of our favourite makes to inspire you!

Easter Bonnet Ideas for kids

So lets get started on these fun crafts for kids to make this Easter. As always, I encourage you to rummage in your craft box for some basic materials such as markers, scissors, paper and glue and see what you can make with these combined with some recycled materials. Avoid unnecessary purchases from the craft store, hobby craft or amazon. Keep it simple but FUN! Hopefully you will find just the tutorial to suit your needs!

Collage of Boy making a Solar System Easter Bonnet

This is definitely more of an Easter Hat Decorating idea.. though of course a bonnet would look great making this too. Solar System Easter Bonnet – I love the little Easter Bunny Astronauts. This is a simple hat to make, that is so much fun (and educational!!). This would be a great one for a SCHOOL Easter parade competition, don’t you think?

Easter Bonnet Craft for Preschoolers decorated for Easter and with Flowers

We made these newspaper hats many many moons ago. They are so fun and so simple.. and can easily and quickly be decorated for an Easter Bonnet parade by adding decorated Easter eggs to the decorations. But you can decorate these in whatever way you wish… add tissue paper flowers & tissue paper leaves, cut out cardboard bunnies, add dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs, or make a dressy bonnet with some bows… your creativity is the limit! Avoid using plastic eggs and check out how to decorate with hollow eggs here.

Easter Bonnet Making time
Cardboard Easter Crown

Have fun with cardboard with these fabulous giant Cardboard Bunny Easter Bonnets! So cute. We do love upcycled crafting. Love that all you need to cut is some simple shapes for your bunny’s haead and bunny ears. You could also take off the bunny tail and add a bunny face and some paws instead, if you want? I particularly love the carrot shapes with the green curled consturtion paper! Can you take the same principle of this tutorial and make an Easter Egg Crown too?

Preschooler with stacks of paper tea cups in different colours

A little bit of an “Easter Bonnet Cheat” – as we haven’t turned these into hats YET!! However these Paper Teacups have long been on my “convert into a fascinator” to do list – you could thread an Alice band through the bottom and done! Decorate with flowers or hollow egg chicks or anything Easter-themed, if you wish! Check out our patterned Teacups too – choose from flowers, roses or stripes! A fascinator sure would make a dressy bonnet, don’t you think?

mad hatter paper hat
Mad Hatter’s Paper Hat

We all know one famous rabbit that wore a dressy hat… so how about a Mad Hatter’s Hat? If not the mad hatter.. make this easy Paper Top Hat and decorate to your Easter Heart’s Content! I love that even the brim fabric is made from tissue paper.. making this a fully biodegradable Easter Hat worthy of a New York City Easter parade!

Next up in our set of homemade Easter bonnets, we have this super fun Paper Easter Bonnet – combine a number of homemade embellishments, such as a giant Tissue Paper Flowers, Paper chicks or chickens and rainbows to make this fun collaborative and inexpensive Easter Bonnet! Much fun to be had! love the simplicity of the paper headband. So “do able” indeed! Toddlers will love these!

Or learn how to make a gorgeous Daffodil Flower Garden Hat with Sun Hats & Wellie Boots! Such a pretty craft using pipe cleaners and construction paper. Love the detail of with the little ladybug too! Such an easy idea to make at home.

preschooler wearing a paper plate bunny ears hat

How about this simple Easter hat. It is of course the Paper Plate Bunny Ear’s Hat by Alphamom. Such a clever DIY Hat making “technique” for little kiddos!

Chick hat made from paper.

Love baby chicks? Well, you know we love all is paper too!! So this Paper Chick Easter Bonnet from Krokotak is just the ticket! Aren’t they cute! Love love love!

easy easter cookies

Oh and finally.. I have an edible Easter Bonnet Treat for you.. a super simple NO BAKE Easter Cookie the kids will love to make:

These are wonderful. I have been making similar hats from the colored craft paper and have even used wrapping paper. For boys I make cowboy and pirate type hats. You can glue almost anything on them!! I started when my daughter was in kindergarten and she is now 30.
